Short term opportunity (6 months) for a mental health nurse with an interest in gaining experience in nursing education or clinical teaching.

Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria, including specialist Forensic Mental Health (FMH) Services at Port Phillip Prison in St Paul's Unit. St Paul’s Unit is a 30-bed psychosocial rehabilitation service that provides specialist, voluntary mental health care, treatment and therapeutic programs to prisoners with a diagnosed mental illness. Participants selected for the program require psychosocial rehabilitation to minimise risk of relapse and enhance their social functioning in preparation for returning to general prison environment or release to community.

About the role:
The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) coordinates undergraduate and graduate nursing programs across the service and leads nursing staff development, education and practice development. You will provide advice on career, education and training opportunities to nursing staff, and contribute to the induction and orientation of nurses. You will also coordinate training for preceptors and undertake projects and initiatives related to clinical nursing.

About you:
You are an experienced nurse with an interest in implementing training and educational programs at Forensicare. You have the ability to form productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, including high level knowledge of clinical practices to build strong connections, cooperation and collaboration.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a nurse education role.


Mandatory qualifications & registrations:

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA)
