Where you'll be working
The Manager – Media role is based within Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, a new branch servicing the Ministry of Health, Secretary, Deputy Secretaries, executive directors and directors. Other internal communications clients include the 15 Local Health Districts, Pillars and Networks across the NSW Health network. 

What you'll be doing
This role oversees a high volume of media enquiries for the whole of the NSW Health system. The Manager – Media leads the media team and provides a high level of expert media advice to key stakeholders within the Ministry of Health to enhance awareness and public perception of NSW Health’s activities, initiatives, policies and directions.
 
Key accountabilities: 

  • Provide a high level of expert media advice to the, NSW Health Executive, Executive Directors and NSW Health staff and the Chief Executives and Media directors and managers within Local Health Districts, Networks and Pillars in order to enhance public awareness perceptions and confidence in NSW Health’s activities, initiatives, policies and directions.
  • Develop and implement a proactive media calendar.
  • Lead on engagement and education with Local Health Districts, Pillars and Networks to ensure a consistent approach to NSW Health media engagement across the state.
  • Lead a small team responsible for media delivery including portfolio and geographical allocation, media training and evaluation.
  • Prepare high quality written media releases, alerts, statements, reports and associated documents to inform or respond to NSW Health, other agency or Government requests.
  • Provide professional leadership and guidance to the Health system media staff, reinforcing key messages and training to assist them to achieve consistency in delivery.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Director Media and Executive Director SCE on social media strategy. 
  • Lead in the delivery of high profile or high impact media issues, providing guidance and leadership to the media team as well as participating in  the existing on call and early shift roster
