An opportunity exists to join the NSW Health Pathology leadership team in providing operational oversight across NSW

This role will be located in St Leonards or Newcastle

Role Outline

The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for managing operational portfolios, staff and resources to provide cost effective, high quality and comprehensive management of Pathology services in line with NSWHP’s strategic and business objectives under the delegation of the Executive Director Clinical Operations. The position has statewide:

1. oversight of pathology operations, including amalgamated review of performance and financial data to inform decision-making
2. review and coordination of statewide service contracts and procurement decisions
3. supporting Operations Directors in maintaining a focus on establishing and meeting budget targets and
4. together with the Executive Director Clinical Operations, leading and sponsoring the delivery of statewide service reviews, service redesign and equipment rollout projects.

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

• Relevant qualification in Business, Management or other related field or relevant experience working at a Director level.
• Experience at a senior level, delivering policy outcomes, strategic planning or performance improvement within a complex, sensitive and high-volume environment
• Thorough understanding of the principles of pathology or related service delivery, including legislative and regulatory requirements, and the principles of clinical governance, operational risk management and service improvement
• Extensive experience in communicating with stakeholders on a wide range of professional and sensitive matters
• Expertise in the analysis of financial and other performance metrics to guide decision-making

This is an ongoing, full time, Band 1, Health Service senior executive (HSSE) role. An attractive remuneration package within the range of $202,040 to $225,094 per annum, with annual performance reviews, will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
