The Role
This position is responsible for leading and managing the Joint Health Command Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF) Project. The outputs and deliverables of this project require an experienced individual who who can lead and coordinate a range of tasks from short notice to long term. The successful applicant will have demonstrated ability to undertake stakeholder engagement and build effective relationships within a busy Directorate and across other areas of Defence. Sound planning, problem solving and priority setting is key for success in this role, as is experience in managing project schedules and risks, budgets and resources. Effective writing and communication skills are critical to assist with briefings, submissions, and reports relating to project progress. Excellent interpersonal skills will assist with liaison and coordination with Contractors and key stakeholders. Experience in a strategic environment and a demonstrated understanding of evaluation would be advantageous.

About our Team
This position is part of the Directorate of Strategic & Operational Mental Health in Joint Health Command. The Directorate is responsible for the Defence Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy, Operational Mental Health and Resilience, Mental Health Surveillance and the Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF) Project. This position is part of a small team responsible for the CIF Project and associated activities. The CIF Project is an evaluation of the Defence Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy, and associated mental health programs and activities. The project will assist Defence to examine the effectiveness of mental health initiatives and contribute to the development and improvement of mental health policy and practice. Outcomes will also inform strategic and research initiatives across the organisation, including implementation of sustainable continuous improvement and evaluation processes.

Our ideal candidate is able to demonstrate effective leadership and sound decision making that will support the project outcomes and deliverables. The level of engagement required with key stakeholders and other branch members requires a strategic focus, effective judgment and communication skills. Productive working relationships internal and external to the team are critical to ensuring success and facilitating cooperation and effective partnerships. An ability to achieve results and be responsive is required. The position is often required to respond quickly to requests for information. Experience with parliamentary business and correspondence would be of benefit. Experience in a health/mental health context would assist in your understanding of the evaluation activities and data requirements. Demonstrated application of project management as well as an understanding, or experience with data management, evaluation methods and analysis would also support project outcomes and applications. An understanding of the Defence environment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
