The Role
An APS3 Health Clerk will work established priorities and procedures, while exercising some autonomy about how their work is performed. They may prioritise and manage their workflow and produce work that is subject to routine monitoring by more senior Defence employees. They may undertake specialist, procedural, clerical, administrative support or operational tasks including some basic research and analysis activities to support their work unit. The work may have an element of complexity.

An APS3 Health Clerk may be required to provide some limited supervision and support to Defence employees at lower classifications, as well as providing on-the-job training to team members.

The APS3 Health Clerk will be required to liaise with various health professionals, dependent units and supporting external agencies. The APS3 Health Clerk will need to apply standard procedures to meet stakeholder requirements and achieve unit and Defence outcomes.

The APS3 Health Clerk may be required to take on additional duties such as HQ Work Health and Safety rep or First Aid rep.

About our Team
Joint Health Unit North Queensland (JHU-NQ) has a headquarters based at Lavarack Barracks and two health centres within Townsville - Lavarack Health Centre (LHC) located at Lavarack Barracks and Townsville Health Centre (THC) located at RAAF Base Townsville; and one Health Centre, Cairns Health Centre (CNSHC), located in Cairns at HMAS Cairns. This position is currently located at HQ JHU-NQ, but may provide support across all health facilities as well. This position will work as part of a dynamic team of ADF, APS and contracted personnel within the headquarters providing administrative support to the provision of health care services across JHU-NQ.

Ideally, this candidate would have experience working in a multidisciplinary health facility, with an integrated workforce and within a Defence environment.
