Southern Queensland Rural Health (SQRH)

Southern Queensland Rural Health (SQRH) is a joint initiative of The University of Queensland (UQ), University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Darling Downs Health (DDH) and South West Hospital and Health Service (SWHHS). We support nursing, midwifery, allied health students and health professionals to develop a high quality and highly skilled workforce across regional, rural and remote Southern Queensland.

SQRH is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health as a University Department of Rural Health under the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program (RHMTP). SQRH is funded to engage with the local communities to support the delivery of training to students, maintain and progress an evidence base and the rural health research agenda, support improvements in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, and provide regional leadership in developing innovative training solutions to address rural workforce recruitment retention.

About This Opportunity

A highly regarded opportunity exists to become a member of the SQRH Senior Leadership team as the Centre Co-ordinator for our Health and Wellness Clinic. This position is a conjoint appointment between The University of Queensland and Darling Downs Health, with UQ being the lead employer.

In this position, you will provide leadership in the delivery of a range of health services in the Centre, as well as identifying opportunities for the Centre's ongoing development and growth. You will a champion a student-led model of care and the integration of complementary student supported initiatives into existing Centre-based DDH programs.

Additional responsibilities will include: developing policies and clinical guidelines for day to day operations; evaluating client, student and operational outcomes; leading the implementation of innovative models of student-resourced services; coordinating the clinical education program; and promoting use of the Centre for research purposes.

This position is located in Toowoomba at the Baillie Henderson Hospital Campus Health and Wellness Centre, however will also be required to travel within its market catchment area. Support for programs and events outside of normal business hours will occasionally be required. 

Our Ideal Candidate

You will hold a degree in a health discipline, partnered with a current accreditation, general registration, or certificate to practice in Australia within your discipline. Essential to this position will be your prior experience in the operational management of a clinic/health centre or service unit. Your experience to date will also include rehabilitation and management of chronic conditions, student clinical education, and the management of clinical educational programs. Finally, you will have strategic problem solving skills, high-level organisational skills and autonomy, and excellent interpersonal skills that have allowed you to establish relationships at a community level.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment until 31 December 2020, with the possibility of extension subject to performance and funding. This appointment will be made at Clinical Academic Level C. The base salary will be in the range $119,548 - $137,846, plus super of up to 17%. The total package will be in the range $139,871 - $161,280.
