Group Health and Safety Manager 

An exciting new opportunity exists with Aveo Group for an experienced, highly motivated and pro-active Group Health and Safety Manager to join Aveo in Sydney.

About the role:

Reporting to the Group Head of Audit, Risk and Safety this position will be expected to liaise, influence and work with employees across all levels of management across the Aveo business. You provide leadership and guidance for the Aveo WH&S department and assist the Group Head of Audit, Risk and Safety to develop, execute and realise Aveo's safety strategy in addition to driving and embedding a safety culture across the organisation.

You will act as a WHS subject matter expert, providing specialist advice and support to the business whilst ensuring the Group meets all statutory obligations.

Minimum role requirement:

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • Tertiary qualification in WHS/OH&S or a related discipline;
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment advantageous;
  • Demonstrated experience in WH&S (5+ years), preferably within a multi-site environment;
  • Knowledge and understanding of current legislation and WHS policy across all Australian sites;
  • Ability to implement state based WHS and Workers Compensation legislation and relevant amendments as they occur;
  • Demonstrated experience contractor management processes and critical incident investigations; 
  • Knowledge of current rehabilitation and injury management approaches;
  • Experience in developing/reviewing WHS training and audit programmes; 
  • Experience with reporting and analysis of Health, Safety, Rehabilitations and Compensation data to identify organisational trends;
  • Ability to negotiate at all levels of the organisation and with external bodies/regulators;
  • Excellent oral and written communication and negotiation skills;
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook;
  • Willingness to travel interstate frequently;
  • Current drivers licence.
