About Primary Health Tasmania 

Primary Health Tasmania is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation working to connect care and keep Tasmanians well and out of hospital. We are one of 31 primary health networks (PHNs) established nationally on 1 July 2015 as part of the Australian Government’s Primary Health Networks program.  

Primary Health Tasmania operates statewide with offices in Hobart, Launceston and Ulverstone and have strong relationships with a broad range of private, public and community sector organisations across primary, acute, aged and social care. This puts us in good stead in our push for a coordinated, primary care-focused health system delivering the right care in the right place at the right time by the right people.

About the opportunity 

We are searching for a ‘Primary Health Consultant – Sector Improvement and Innovation’, which is really an experienced health professional who can work as part of the Sector Improvement and Innovation team as a significant contributor to Primary Health Tasmania’s strategic approach to engaging and collaborating with sector stakeholders and partners to influence ‘single-system’ thinking and improved integration of care. 

We are looking for individuals who have: 

  • Can bring their health sector knowledge and apply it to support initiatives to improve the integration, effectiveness and efficiency of the health system 
  • demonstrated knowledge and skills in one or more of the following areas; safety and quality, digital health, stakeholder engagement, Tasmanian HealthPathways, population health and regional planning and measuring sector improvement and integration to improve health outcomes. 
  • capacity to work effectively as part of a cohesive team to support organisational achievement.

On a personal level - you will be successful if you: 

  • are adaptable and resilient and happy to go the extra mile 
  • have strong project management, organisational, planning and time management skills 
  • are happy to travel if required (intrastate and interstate) 
  • are personable, and approachable with a sense of humour  
  • have a collaborative and consultative style 
  • share our values and understand that professionalism needs to be instinctive.

What would you be doing? 

You would be working on a range of initiatives focused on improving the integration, effectiveness and efficiency of the health system that have a direct and significant effect on systems with Primary Health Tasmania and ultimately to better health outcomes for Tasmanians.
