We are currently seeking a Research Assistant – Cognition & Hearing

Within our world-renowned Institute, the Research Department is an exciting and stimulating place to work and because we are focused on improved excellence, our staff have particularly challenging and rewarding roles. This position provides a dynamic opportunity to work in a collaborative research team environment.

Essential Criteria

  • Degree (BSc Hons or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, Psychology or Neuroscience preferred.
  • Previous experience in research
  • People and problem-solving skills, ability to exhibit empathy and work with older adults
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis software and the ability carry out basic statistical analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with great attention to detail
  • A demonstrated ability to contribute to writing and submission of journal articles.
  • Excellent record keeping, data presentation.
  • Ability to assist in supervision of students for undergraduate projects.
  • Time Management skills, ability to multitask, meet deadlines and set priorities.
  • Self-motivated, work individually and as part of a collaborative team
  • Willingness to work flexible hours when required

Desirable Criteria

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, SPSS, PowerPoint and Excel software packages
  • Ability to work under limited supervision from senior research staff
  • Familiarity with good clinical practice guidelines

Roles & Responsibilities:

To perform tasks associated with Cognition and Hearing Loss research in the Ear Science Institute Australia (ESIA), and the Ear Sciences Centre, School of Surgery, UWA (ESC).

Reporting to Research Lead- Cognition and Hearing Loss, the Research Assistant will interact with a team of students, researchers and clinicians in the field of clinical research, particularly in the area of cognition and hearing loss.

The role will require participation in Research meetings and attendance at conferences. 

The appointment is full-time, and the Research Assistant will be based at the Ear Science Institute Australia Research HQ in Nedlands.
