The Position:

An exceptional opportunity has arisen to join a highly proficient department as  Obstetrics & Gynaecology  Registrar. This position will serve as a Medical Practitioner in the primary referral hospital for the region, which translates to encounters with high-acuity cases and a diverse range of clinical experiences.

The maternity unit, serves as the hub for birthing and inpatient maternity care, while antenatal and postnatal services are extended to the region. With around 1000 births annually, the unit boasts a team of skilled midwives. For high-risk births, collaboration with other hospitals in Tasmania, which is supported by local endocrinology and diabetic teams. Additionally, the unit is backed by a Level 4 Neonatal Unit and an 8-bed Level 4 Intensive Care Unit.

This role appeals to seasoned medical professionals who thrive on challenges, viewing them as avenues for growth, and are deeply committed to enhancing healthcare within the intricate framework of modern health systems. The ideal candidates will play a pivotal role in advancing healthcare both at the patient and system levels.

This role is suitable for applicants who have been assessed by RANZCOG and deemed partially or substantially comparable (requiring top up training/peer review).

The Facility:

This 300-bed Tertiary Teaching Facility, renowned for its acute care capabilities, catering to over 24,000 inpatients and more than 225,000 outpatients each year. The bustling Emergency Department, equipped with 43 treatment beds, accommodates an annual influx of over 45,000 patients and maintains an admission rate of 35%. This accredited hospital maintains a close-knit partnership with the University of Tasmania through its clinical school.

Eligibility (at least one of the below):

1. General, Provisional or limited registration with AHPRA  

2. IMG’s that have completed at least the AMC MCQ (part 1) or completed both AMC 1 & 2 (clinical exam)

3. IMG’s eligible via the Competent Authority Pathway (training in the UK, USA, NZ, Canada or Ireland)

4. IMG’s assessed by RANZCOG College as partially or substantially comparable (doctors currently interviewing with  RANZCOG may express their interest)

6. Non CA country: Have 7+ years of international experience working as an O&G Registrar
