We have several exciting opportunities available for qualified professionals who are keen to make a real difference, through critical incident support, short-term counselling services and referral pathways to care, and holistic and proactive health and wellbeing programs.

The Senior Psychologist role is an integral part of the holistic Mental Health Services program within the NSW RFS which includes Senior Psychologists, Psychologists, Peer Support Program Coordinator, Peer Support Officers and Chaplains. The Senior Psychologist and Psychologist positions deliver state-wide and area-based mental health prevention, promotion, intervention and recovery services to NSW RFS staff and volunteers as well as support and guidance to the NSW RFS leadership and the Peer personnel. The role will require participation in rostered on call after hours duties.

As our ideal candidate, you will have demonstrated skills and experience in:

  • Working as an effective team member within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Provision of trauma-informed assessment, formulation and interventions for people with mild to moderate mental health conditions
  • Applied experience in implementing programs to support better member mental health and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Providing psychoeducation and / or mental health and wellbeing content in a group setting.
  • Genuine appreciation and understanding of a volunteer-based emergency service
