Research Analyst
About the role
Design, implement and manage research, evaluation and outcomes measurement projects within The Salvation Army Mission Department, as well as analysing and synthesising data and findings to develop valuable insights and strategic recommendations to the Department. This will include but not limited to literature and systematic review, field works, data collection and analysis, participation in the design and execution of research, evaluation and outcomes measurement of Mission expression programs, producing reports and preparing briefs for the Mission Expression Stream.
You will successfully
- Projects and tasks are managed to a high standard to assist the Manager and Senior Research Analysts in execution of in-house and external research, evaluation and outcomes measurement projects.
- Research, evaluation and outcome measurement designs, planning, implementations and reporting are conducted according to best practice and completed within agreed timeframe and budget.
- Qualitative and quantitative data and research findings are analysed and synthesised, and trends and patterns in complex data sets are accurately identified and interpreted, to provide valuable insights and recommendations to the Department.
- Statistical analysis using Microsoft Excel and/or Statistical software (e.g. SPSS) is conducted within agreed time frames.
- Confidential and sensitive data is handled with integrity and there are not any breaches
- Field works, focus group, workshop, training, interview and surveys are conducted according to best practice.
- Quality data is collected according to funding bodies and organisation's requirement in a way that support the use of data for analysis and learning.
- Project stakeholders, including frontline services and partners, are identified and engaged to deliver the project outcomes and to meet the team's goals.
- Demonstrates on a continual basis a commitment to learning and commitment to assisting and supporting geographically-diverse team.
- Ideas for team's professional development and ways to perform tasks more efficiently are identified, shared with Manager and Senior Research Analysts and followed through. This may include but not limited to identifying new software, techniques/methods and knowledge relevant to assigned projects.
- Issues and concerns affecting projects, work performance and/or team dynamics are identified, documented and discussed with Manager and Senior Research Analysts in timely manner.
- Within agreed or requested timeframe, deliver or complete: high-quality briefing papers, literature/systematic reviews and reports; written, tabular and visual materials for reports, presentations and intranets; and other follow up tasks.
- Key findings, insights and conclusions of research, evaluation and outcomes measurement projects are understood by key stakeholders and target audience.
- All records of communication and correspondence (including meeting minutes), and documents/resources for meetings and workshops are organised and made available to relevant stakeholders in timely manner.
- Project update are received by Manager, Senior Research Analysts and stakeholders in timely manner.
- Meetings, resources and travels are organised/co-ordinated as required for research, evaluation and outcomes measurement activities within budget and timeframe.
- All other administrative and logistic support is provided as required.
This role is a fixed-term 2 year contract based in Redfern NSW or Blackburn VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS level 5.
You will have
- At least 2 years' experience in qualitative and quantitative research, program evaluation and/or outcomes/impact measurement.
- Bachelor or Postdoctoral Degree in relevant fields, such as in Statistics, Health and Social Sciences, Psychology, Epidemiology, or similar qualifications.
- Experience working in a community services setting would be highly regarded.
- Some experience conducting research, evaluation and analysis within community sector is highly desirable.
- Strong problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills, with proven ability to collect, organise, analyse and disseminate significant amounts of complex information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills, with ability to communicate complex research/evaluation/statistical findings to non-researchers.
- Intermediate statistical level and experience using statistical packages to analyse large datasets (Excel, SPSS, R, SAS, etc).
- Result-oriented person and ability to take responsibility in meeting deadlines and making progress without constant direct supervision.
- A National Criminal History Check is required
- May require Working with Children Check if working in projects that directly involving with children.
- Willingness to travel to conduct field works and/or to meet with stakeholders as required
The Salvation Army is subject to public health orders. You may be required to provide evidence of vaccine status dependent on requirements.
