  • $142,374 per annum + superannuation
  • Full time, Fixed term to 30/06/2025
  • Geelong location (Hybrid working model – 3 days in the office)

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity to lead and support the delivery of a high profile strategic project for WorkSafe. The Senior Project Manager will play a vital role in delivering key strategic projects across the Enterprise, involve end to end management of projects that make a valuable difference to employers and workers. The projects are focussed on supporting the organisation to meet its performance targets associated with prevention and operationalising health and safety related change, including technology product implementation.

This role is part of a supportive and high performing project management practice that supports senior leadership and teams to deliver on critical work for the organisation.  There is an opportunity to apply different delivery approaches to support delivery of the objectives and outcomes and work in a collaborative and engaging way with the team, leveraging other capabilities across the organisation where required. 

The Senior Project Manager will be required to utilise the agreed project management framework to effectively manage, execute and report on the projects they are responsible for, including leading project teams to develop robust scope and implementation plans, and co-ordinate the deliverables to achieve the agreed strategic improvements spanning across people, process and system.

This role requires flexibility, agility and responsiveness to support the needs of the scheme, as well as undertaking critical delivery functions interchangeable, with support from other delivery practices such as information technology, change management, design, business analysis and governance.

A combination of both agile and traditional project management techniques and experience will be looked upon favourably for this role, including strong experience delivering high profile technology projects, including large scale procurement and contract management, as well as experience executing business led change to people, process and supporting infrastructure.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead and manage the development and successful delivery of assigned projects. Taking full responsibility for the definition, documentation, and satisfactory delivery of the agreed objectives and outcomes of one or more large complex project/s.
  • Support the procurment, tender and contract management process involved in executing a new technology platform.
  • Work closely with the business to define the detail required for people, process and supporting infrastructure changes required to execute new business led initiatives.
  • Resource management including internal service providers and external vendors and any other stakeholders required for successful delivery through negotiation and influencing necessary stakeholders.
  • Management of key internal and external stakeholders in the delivery of the project.
  • Initiate, develop and maintain strong and effective internal and external networks that are relevant to meeting the completion of projects, making strategic recommendations to stakeholder on their involvement/influence on project outcomes.
  • Identify, assess, and manage the risks to the success of the project including dependencies across projects, political, business impact, market impact, and technical complexity.

About you

You have a strong attention to detail and you are engaging, confident and flexible in your working style.

You communicate well (verbally and in writing), share knowledge and experiences, have a can-do and flexible approach, and have a strong knowledge of and demonstrated high-level experience in Project Management, including agile delivery, leading multiple projects concurrently within large and complex organisations. You will also possess:

  • Substantial career evidence of project management including proven leadership and management of multiple projects concurrently within large and complex organisations, with demonstrated use of strong project management methodology, including agile and traditional approaches to deliver outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience establishing and maintaining key strategic relationships with a broad range of diverse stakeholders, including executive audience engagement, to successfully deliver business projects.
  • Solid technical background with an ability to address accessibility and compatibility issues.
  • Proven experience in successful budget responsibility for projects over $1 million.
  • Extensive project lifecycle experience understanding the planning and delivery of projects in its entirety, both IT based projects and Business based change projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to explain highly complex concepts, contentious or sensitive issues and information where high levels of negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills are required,
  • Understanding of change management principles, how to influence to gain acceptance of change, and ability to manage stakeholders through change.
  • High competency in scheduling & dependency mapping with attention to detail in reporting and written work
  • Demonstrating an agile approach to all aspects of work, including a willingness to share knowledge and expertise to assist in embedding this approach across the organisation.
  • Desirable - Understanding of Worksafe’s operating environment and systems, including the agent model and WorkSafe’s Project Management Framework, or ability to acquire.
  • Desirable - Experience working with Government and / or WorkSafe’s stakeholders, including unions and employer groups.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary education in project management or at least 3 years industry experience together with relevant tertiary education in a business related discipline.
  • Accreditation in PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile (e.g. Scrum, Lean, XP) or related project management frameworks
