Senior Occupational Safety and Health Advisor

Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa is located on the world famous Cable Beach in beautiful Broome, far north Western Australia. Broome is easily accessible by plane to all major Australian cities and offers a relaxed lifestyle with all the conveniences of shops, restaurants, cinemas, hospital and schools. Our property offers accommodation of varying styles, 4 restaurants, pool side bars, tour desk, resort shop and a full service Day Spa.

This position is located at our resort in Broome, WA.  Relocation assistance will be discussed at interview.

We are currently seeking to appoint a Senior Occupational Safety and Health Advisor to join our resort-based team. This is a standalone, generalist role that encompasses all aspects of OSH within the resort.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Management of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System
  • Develop and maintain risk management processes and procedures
  • Provide OSH training and induction to resort staff
  • Manage workers compensation claims
  • Investigate staff and guest incidents and hazards
  • Complete monthly reporting and statistics
  • Conduct audits and inspections
  • Coordinate monthly OSH committee meetings, inspections and toolbox meetings
  • Provide advice to managers on OSH requirements and responsibilities
  • Responsible for all OSH administration for the business

Reporting to the Group OSH Manager in Perth and the Human Resources Manager locally, the successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience and skills:

  • Diploma or Degree (preferred) level Qualification in Occupational Safety and Health
  • Previous Experience in a Resort Environment (preferred)
  • A thorough understanding of all relevant WA OSH legislation including workers compensation and Injury Management
  • Previous experience in developing, implementing and maintaining OSH systems with e preference for ISO 45001
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • A practical approach to hazard and risk management
  • Well-developed computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft office suite
