Research Project Manager - Tissue and Data Coordinator

- Work closely with neurosurgeons and stakeholders to coordinate all aspects of brain tumour research and facilitate the development of cutting-edge therapeutics for patients with brain cancer.

About the team:
The Department of Neurosurgery provides a comprehensive inpatient service for patients with neurosurgical diseases, with a clinical and referral service for patients with intracranial, spinal and peripheral nerve disorders requiring neurosurgical assessment and treatment. The Department of Neurosurgery has active clinical and laboratory research programs that augment each of the clinical specialised programs undertaken by the Department alone and in conjunction with the Departments of Neurology, Radiology and Oncology, as well as external partners, including The University of Melbourne, Walter and Eliza Hall Institute and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Many clinical programs are involved with national and international clinical trials.
Your new role:
- Facilitation of patient tissue direct from surgery to researchers and to oversee and link data with clinical outcomes.
- Overseeing sample collection, biobanking and data linkage of patient samples.
- Working with clinicians, principal investigators, project team members, data managers and stakeholders to achieve milestones/outcomes for all studies.
- Ensure the proper conduct of the full scope of clinical studies, from study start up to study closure.
- Protocol development, ethics and governance submissions and progress reporting.
About you:
- Strong scientific background with an understanding of clinical research.
- Experience operating and managing large databases with confidential patient information.
- Ability to proactively manage workloads, troubleshoot, prioritise tasks and meet study deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player.
- High attention to detail with a proactive, innovative, resourceful nature and adaptable to change.
- Effective communication skills (both oral and written), with the ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships with various stakeholders.
