About this role
We are looking for a good communicator with strategic thinking and problem solving skills to lead a change agenda for the team and our work over the next 12 months.
This is an opportunity for a professional with policy, program implementation or research experience to provide strategic leadership to support the development and implementation of Centre for Population Health (CPH) programs and projects. This is a 12 month parental backfill position and will focus on the Healthy Eating Active Living (overweight and obesity prevention) program and policy portfolio.
Where you'll be working
The Centre for Population Health (CPH) aims to promote health and to prevent morbidity and mortality caused by modifiable risk factors. The CPH portfolio encompasses hepatitis B and C; sexually transmissible infections including HIV; tobacco; and overweight/obesity.
The CPH approach is characterised by a focus on evidence-informed programmatic and system-level interventions that improve health, reduce health inequity, create healthy environments, promote community action, enable personal health-seeking and recognise the social determinants of good health. In the last decade CPH has delivered evidence informed interventions at scale, invested in research and evaluations to build the evidence base, increased the use of data to inform the delivery of programs, services and policies, and embedded prevention in the NSW Health performance management system to ensure state-wide system accountability.
What you'll be doing
Your main role will be to lead a project to review the overweight/obesity prevention work program and narrative to ensure our approach aligns with a new operating context. This includes working with internal and external partners to shape and drive a coordinated approach to the translation of research evidence for strategy and decision making. You will also manage a small team with research/evaluation/data expertise to provide technical advice on data-related issues and support the delivery of a strategic research and evaluation program. The Principal Analyst will be required to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external research, program and policy partners as well as provide high quality written and verbal strategic advice to senior management.
Research/evaluation knowledge and skills are desirable but not essential
