The Victorian Health Minister, has sacked four members of the nine-member board of Ambulance Victoria, and announced the appointment of a new board which includes just two members of the outgoing board.  Outgoing board members include former Labor MP John McQuilten, Bruce Levy, a senior executive at Medibank Private, Melbourne lawyer Jan Moffatt and Suzanne Ewart, an independent consultant who has worked with water companies and the RSPCA.


Three board members - Marika McMahon, Kevin Boote and John Frame, were not re-appointed after their contracts expired on June 30.


The new board will be chaired by former Chief Executive Officer of Southern Health, Professor Just Stoelwinder.  Other members include:

  • Claire Higgins was formerly chair of Barwon Health and a former director of Ambulance Victoria.
  • Professor George Braitberg, Director of Emergency Medicine at Southern Health.
  • Jo-Anne Cavill, currently Chief Executive Officer and Director of Nursing of the Darlingford Upper Goulburn Nursing Home and previously the Chief executive officer of Omeo District Health.
  • Charles Gillies, currently a board member at Southern Health..
  • Deborah Spring,  formerly with Australia Post and National Rail Australia.
  • Lynne McClennan, formerly Chair of Ballarat Health Service.
  • Kenneth Ryan, formerly with QANTAS and voluntary involvement with Royal Children’s Hospital fundraising.
  • David Ryan,  a MICA paramedic in metropolitan Melbourne

 

Barry Nicholls will be appointed as a delegate to the Ambulance Victoria Board. He is Chair of Peninsula Health and previously worked as the Director of Ambulance services within the Department of Health. Also appointed as delegate is Gary Thomas,  a principal with accounting and financial services firm WHK, and member of the Board of Stawell Regional Health.
