The new Melbourne Brain Centre  has been officially opened at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, bringing together research and clinical facilities to help ensure that research is effectively translated into improved clinical outcomes.

The three campuses of the Melbourne Brain Centre were awarded a Federal Government grant of $39.8 million through the Health and Hospitals Fund in the 2009-10 Budget. The three facilities, at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Parkville and Austin Health, bring together more than 700 researchers from the Mental Health Research Institute, the University of Melbourne, Melbourne Health, Austin Health and the Florey Neuroscience Institutes.
