The New South Wales State Government has announced that consultation for the new Hunter Valley Hospital will be fast-tracked following the commitment of $20 million for the project.

The Minister for Health Jillian Skinner announced the Clinical Services Plan was to be fast-tracked and that a suitable site for the new hospital would be chosen as soon as possible.

“There are clear challenges at Maitland Hospital and I know how desperate the community is to see the Hunter Valley Hospital brought forward so I have asked that the Local Health District, in consultation with clinicians and the Board, work to fast-track the completion of the Clinical Services Plan so that the process of finding a site can get underway,” Ms Skinner said.

“The NSW Government will look into the possibility of a Public Private Partnership arrangement for this project to speed up the process but this can only happen once firm plans are in place to identify what’s needed and a site has been confirmed.
