The Tasmanian State Government has announced the state’s three Health Organisations have entered the recruitment process for the establishment of their governing councils.

The Tasmanian Minister for Health Michelle O’Byrne said that the establishment of the three Organisations (THO’s) will replace the current Area Health Services and will commence services from July 2012 as part of the National Health Reforms package.

“The three THOs will oversee the improvement of health outcomes for Tasmanians and deliver an unprecedented level of local ownership, local control and local decision making in the North, the North West and the South,” Ms O’Byrne said.

Ms O’Byrne said acting on advice from the governing council selection panel, set up by the Treasury Department, the State Government had decided to seek a common chairperson to preside over the three councils.
