Construction company Theiss has been awarded the $108 million contract to upgrade the Logan Hospital.

Under the contract, Theiss will construct a multi-storey building adjacent to the main hospital as part of Queensland Helath’s plan to increase capacity and services.

Managing Director Bruce Munro says Thiess is delighted to add Logan Hospital to its growing health portfolio.

“Thiess is proud of its specialist health capability which is currently delivering great results for Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital, Townsville Hospital and now Logan,” Mr Munro said.

“As a Queensland-based company, we’re particularly pleased to be delivering this expansion to hospital services in one of the state’s engine rooms of growth.”

The Logan Hospital expansion includes a new emergency department featuring

  • 18 additional adult emergency treatment spaces
  • 12 additional paediatric treatment areas
  • 8 additional paediatric short stay beds

The new building will also include a 34 bed paediatric ward and a 24 bed rehabilitation ward with associated day therapy and a gym.
