The South Australian Government has welcomed UK welfare reform specialist, Dr Simon Duffy, who has been requested to examine the potential for individualised funding for South Australians with a disability.

Dr Duffy, from the UK Centre of Welfare Reform, is the keynote speaker at a forum being held on the topic at the Adelaide Town Hall on October17.

“Dr Duffy is a world-renowned expert in the area of whole-system change, and our Government is delighted to welcome him to South Australia,” South Australian Disabilities Minister Ian Hunter said.

“We invited Dr Duffy to Adelaide to share his extensive knowledge and practical experience with South Australians with disability, their carers and their families.

“His visit is timely with South Australia preparing to host a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) launch site from July 2013, which ties in closely with the introduction of individualised funding.”

Dr Duffy will meet with State and National disability experts before fielding questions at the forum, followed by a discussion on the NDIS.
