About the role

The Director, Return to Work Innovations is a senior leadership role that reports to the Executive Director, Return to Work Victoria.  This role will lead multi-disciplinary teams and is responsible for end-to-end strategic oversight of key programs under a resourcing model that may involve matrix management of resources and engagement across multiple business units. This role will build effective external partnerships to deliver required outcomes that drive workplace change and improve outcomes for injured workers.

This position will be accountable for performance and deliverables and provide high level strategic advice, collaborating and engaging at executive, senior and operational levels within Government, WorkSafe and employee representative groups. This is the inaugural role and will set the long term direction for this work and be mission critical to deliver early, evidenced improvements in return to work and for these improvements to be demonstrable to the Minister and external stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

  • Building and leading program-stream based teams of professionals, providing effective leadership to programs by ensuring agreed initiatives are identified, planned, implemented and evaluated consistent with the strategic imperatives of Return to Work Victoria and Government direction
  • Leading engagement and consultation with Employer, Worker and Government stakeholders, including through relevant Interdepartmental Committees (IDCs) and Board Advisory Committees in relation to Return to Work Victoria programs and deliverables.
  • Driving continuous improvement through an effective review and evaluation framework to allow timely and flexible responses to identified triggers, program risks and issues. This includes the ability to lead a change in direction when programs or projects are not meeting set objectives or priorities.
  • Drive strategic collaboration through stakeholder engagement and advocacy to support key mental health and mental injury initiatives.

About you

You are an experienced insurance professional who wants to make a difference, with demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of performance in a demanding Senior Leadership position.

  • Previous experience in senior leadership and the ability to engage with Board, C-Suite, Government, senior stakeholder and senior leadership and operational levels, using a range of influencing, negotiations and conflict resolution approaches.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex programs of work within a dynamic environment.
  • Proven capability in delivering outcomes in an Agile environment and ‘can do’ approach to achieve rapid pilot/testing in line with Ministerial expectations.
  • A strong track record of positioning an organisation to achieve tangible outcomes through partnerships and collaboration.
