The Discipline of Addiction Medicine is represented by teaching and research staff on campus and in each of the Clinical Schools and Research Institutes of the University of Sydney.

A lead team of Investigators are conducting two separate NHMRC funded Randomised Clinical Trials (RCT) – the first project (underway) investigates the safety, efficacy and underlying physiology of aerobic exercise in the treatment of cannabis withdrawal in an inpatient setting, with partners from Sydney Local Health District (LHD). The second project is a double blind placebo-controlled RCT examining the safety, efficacy and cost effectiveness of agonist cannabinoid substitution with nabiximols for treating cannabis dependence in outpatient sites in South East Sydney LHD, Western Sydney LHD and Hunter & New England LHD.    

We are seeking to appoint a trial co-ordinator across both studies – estimated at 0.4FTE for the exercise RCT, and 0.6FTE for the nabiximols RCT. You will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day conduct of the studies, including participant recruitment and data management, supervising research assistants, liaising with investigators, clinical and laboratory teams, adhering to relevant clinical and research governance requirements, and assisting the Investigators with resource management, data analysis and dissemination of study findings.

To succeed in securing this position you will have:

• a master’s degree or PhD in psychology, behavioural sciences or other relevant discipline
• demonstrated ability to conduct and co-ordinate high quality clinical research projects
• high-level organisational skills and capacity to work independently and in a team
• excellent oral and written communication skills
• experience in conducting research interviews
• experience in data collection, data management, statistical analysis
• demonstrated record of publication in peer reviewed journals
• research and/or clinical experience in the alcohol and other drugs field (desirable)
• current, unrestricted NSW driver’s license (desirable)
• Clinical Trials Good Clinical Practice certification (desirable).
