Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Critical Care Evidence Based Medicine

  • Fixed term, part-time opportunity to December 2020 and base salary $127K-$169K p.a plus superannuation

About the opportunity 

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer (Level C) or Associate Professor (Level D) in Critical Care Evidence Based Medicine to coordinate the capstone unit of study for the Critical Care postgraduate coursework program, provide supervision of student research projects and establish and implement a critical care research agenda.

This position is within the Professional Medical Education (PME) group in Sydney Medical School. PME manage the development and delivery of a wide range of vocationally oriented education programs for doctors and other health professionals. The Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor is part of a team of clinicians, academics and professional staff who develop and deliver the critical care program.

This part-time appointment will be 0.5FTE which equates to 18.75hrs per week.

About you

  • Relevant combination of qualifications and experience:
    • Fellowship of the Australia College of Emergency Medicine or College of Intensive Care Medicine or Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists plus a PhD or Master of Public Health or Master of Clinical Epidemiology or equivalent

OR

    • PhD in epidemiology and an interest in critical care research
  • Experience in university and/or clinical teaching
  • Experience in designing and implementing research projects
  • Recent publications relevant to critical care
  • Successful record of obtaining research grants (highly desirable)

For consideration at Level D, in addition to the above, we’re looking for:

  • Experience in curriculum design and innovation in university and/or clinical teaching
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead a research program
  • Strong track record of recent publications relevant to critical care
  • Successful record of obtaining research grants
  • Experience in translational research and/or translating evidence into clinical practice

Our ideal candidate will be highly motivated and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills along with a demonstrated willingness to provide leadership in teaching and research
