Position Summary

The Department of Paediatrics at Sutherland Hospital seeks suitably qualified Paediatric Staff Specialist, to provide high quality clinical care in both inpatient and outpatient/ambulatory settings.  The position will include, but is not limited to, working closely with the Director of Paediatrics to provide clinical oversight and leadership, active participation in Children’s Acute Review Service and other ambulatory modes of care, as well as liaison with Paediatric Emergency Department.

Proven senior clinical experience in the management of acute paediatric and neonatal conditions with expertise in resuscitation skills, including Advanced Life Support Certification essential.

The Sutherland Hospital is a modern 320 bed major metropolitan teaching Hospital of the University of New South Wales located in the Sutherland Shire, in southeast Sydney, 25 kilometres from the Sydney CBD. It is situated close to surf beaches, Port Hacking, Botany Bay, the Georges River and The Royal National Park

Candidates expecting to receive their Fellowship within six (6) months may be considered for this role. 

The successful candidate may be eligible for a conjoint appointment to the Sutherland Hospital Clinical School with the UNSW Faculty of Medicine.  The level of the appointment will be determined by qualifications and experience.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with Staff Specialist Award.

The position will include, but is not limited to, working closely with the Director of Paediatrics to provide clinical oversight and leadership, active participation in the Children's Acute Review Service and other ambulatory models of care as well as liaison with Paediatric Emergency Department, continuous service improvement and development of new models of care, protocol development and research.
