Salary: $91,846 - $101,687

About Us
Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health service. We provide culturally appropriate, family centred, comprehensive primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.

About the Opportunity
The Workplace Health and Safety Officer is responsible for is to providing expert workplace health and safety (WHS) advice and services to the Apunipima workforce.

It is a condition of employment for this position that the employee be vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with organisational policy requirements.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Workplace Health and Safety or related discipline
  • Well-developed understanding of WHS legislation and standards
  • Ability to identify hazards and develop, implement and monitor strategies to control risks in the workplace
  • Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs
