Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) at CSIRO engages with all levels of the organisation to deliver future-focussed and leading-edge initiatives to significantly improve CSIRO’s HSE culture. CSIRO have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Specialist to support the HSE team to create solutions for challenging mental health and wellbeing issues. 

As the Mental Health Specialist, you’ll monitor organisational psychosocial risk factors and develop innovative programs to support team CSIRO. Leveraging your knowledge of psychological health and case management practices, you will triage reported mental health cases and connect individuals with appropriate resources. Your role will include providing advice on complex claims, as well as managing a small cohort of complex cases. You’ll be an advocate for initiating change and proposing solutions that positively influence the organisation. 

Your qualifications in psychology, social work or nursing and demonstrated experience with psychological case management at a complex organisation, will see you well placed to make an impact at CSIRO. Your duties will include:

• Assisting with the triaging of psychosocial hazards reported through the incident reporting system and aligning with appropriate internal and external resources. 
• Identifying and implementing projects to enable strategic outcomes and improvement in psychosocial outcomes.
• Guiding, supporting and empowering the HSE team to develop and support solutions to complex and challenging mental health and wellbeing issues.
• Coaching and educating the growth and development of people through knowledge sharing across relevant organisational teams utilising best practice and communities to enhance the overall HSE performance. 
• Demonstrating flexibility and agility to actively contribute to multiple teams, manage multiple priorities, and supporting staff needs as required.
• Developing, supporting and coaching others in mental health and wellbeing initiatives.
• Other duties as directed.  

Location: Open to candidates across all CSIRO locations. 
Salary: AU$102k - AU$111k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in a medical or allied health field (preferably psychology, social work or nursing).
• A minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in psychological case management and rehabilitation within large or complex organisations. 
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of HSE legislation, codes of practice and standards.
• Demonstrated collaboration skills in the use and sharing of resources and knowledge across all teams to build and strengthen expertise in mental health and wellbeing across a large diverse organisation.
• Proven ability to design, deliver and implement communication strategies with consistent messaging relevant to all levels of the organisation. 
• Proven ability in planning, creating and maintaining effective teams and resources taking into account operational and strategic priorities of key stakeholders. 
• Proven ability to interpret legislation, regulatory standards and other related information, investigative skills to comprehend complex problems and information and develop appropriate responses for action.

Eligibility

Applications for this position are open to Australian/New Zealand Citizens, Australian Permanent Residents. Appointment to this role is subject to provision of a national police check and may be subject to other security/medical/character requirements.
