THE OPPORTUNITY

The Faculty of Health is seeking to appoint an outstanding academic to the position of Professor or Associate Professor of Biostatistics to provide leadership in research and statistical advice to Faculty researchers. The appointee will initiate and contribute to Faculty research initiatives, HDR supervision, program development and entrepreneurial activity in health and Biostatistics.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Academic leadership in Biostatistics and leading the contribution of the Biostatistics Unit to research excellence across the Faculty and University.
  • Leading areas of scholarship within a field of Biostatistics and/or its application to health/medical research.
  • Leadership in strategies to build and effectively utilise capacity in Biostatistics and quantitative methods across the Faculty and in Faculty partnerships.
  • Contributing to scholarly publication, the generation of research and commercial funding and the supervision of HDR students.
  • Promoting the discipline of Biostatistics by forging strong relationships with professional groups, government and non-government organisations, overseas institutions, other academics, industry and the wider community.

ABOUT YOU

  • PhD in statistics, biostatistics or equivalent (with appropriate advanced quantitative skills, including familiarity with statistical software packages).
  • Demonstrated high level academic leadership and professional expertise in the field of Biostatistics and its practical application to medical/health research.
  • Evidence of recognition as a leader in Biostatistics at national and international levels.
  • Ability to build and lead a research unit, with a particular emphasis on partnerships, high quality publications and obtaining research grants.
  • Proven experience in the leadership and efficient administration of academic research programs.
