About the role:

To lead development of a unique research program in younger stroke survivors (18-55 years) that seeks to characterize, using a multi-omics (imaging, genomics and metabolomic and clinimetrics) approach, young stroke recovery.

The candidate will be responsible for set up, governance, conduct and management of this part of the young stroke project with support from other members of the YSS team.

This position is a fixed term, full-time time role ceasing on 30 November 2026, however part-time hours, irregular working hours and working from home arrangements will be considered. The role attracts an annual salary offer ranging from Increment Level (SRO1) $99,609 to Increment Level (SRO3) $107,082, commensurate with experience.

About you:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelors degree in health sciences discipline
  • Doctoral degree or equivalent in neuroscience or related field: clinical or basic science
  • Minimum 2 years postdoctoral experience in related field or research
  • Demonstrate high-level project management and communication skills
  • Demonstrates effective leadership in building projects or collaborative groups
  • Experience in writing/developing data collection tools, reports and protocols, policies, research manuscripts and other publications
  • Expertise in clinical research AND/OR advanced neuromaging analysis AND/OR biomarker/genomic research
  • Experience in developing project budgets and funding applications

Experience with the below is desirable, but not essential:

  • Experience with co-design approaches with people with lived experience of stroke (or other consumers)
  • Interest/experience in imaging/omics analysis including Al
  • Experience in managing complex clinical, imaging and biomarker/genomic datasets
  • Experience in managing clinical trials OR high quality prospective observational studies.
