City of Melbourne are looking for qualified and enthusiastic Gym Instructors who are committed to the delivery of high quality programs and outstanding customer service, to join the iconic Melbourne City Baths!

As a Gym Instructor you will conduct lifestyle and progress consultations for a diverse range of individuals and groups. You will be required to demonstrate exercises in a professional and user friendly way using your professional customer focused approach. You will have a strong desire of helping our clients to reach their goals, and be someone who can build rapport easily so that our clients build trust for your professional and safe advice and on our programs and services.

In addition to your proven track record, our ideal candidate must have outstanding interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.

What you will bring… (Selection criteria)

  • Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
  • Experience undertaking fitness assessments and providing personalised exercise prescription.
  • Willingness to conduct on-shift group fitness classes (Circuit, HIIT, Prime)
  • Understanding/experience delivering gym based retention strategies
  • Skilled in the provision of customer information which outlines the benefits of membership and secondary spending, in particular personal training to prospective customers and/or members, in person, electronically and over the telephone.
  • Proven team orientation in the workplace.

To be eligible for this role, you must have the following (or willingness to obtain prior to appointment):

  • Minimum Certificate III in Fitness & Certificate IV in Personal Training.
  • Current Health and Fitness Registration with Fitness Australia.
  • A current Provide First Aid certificate - units of competancy:
    • HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
    • HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support.
    • HLTAID003 Provide first aid.
  • A Working with Children Check (employee)

Additional desirable skills and qualifications:

  • Group Fitness Qualification (Aerobics/Aqua Aerobics/Cycling/Les Mills/Boxing/other)
  • Experience using TechnoGym MyWellness gym retention systems, Links Modular Services or similar systems/technology.
