The Role
Reporting to the Tindal Health Centre Manager, you would be the day-to-day operational manager of a facility that provides GP services, Physiotherapy, Dental, Mental Health Care and Occupational Rehabilitation to a dependency of approximately 580 Australian Defence Force members. You would be directly responsible for managing the administrative and customer-oriented aspects of the facility, as well as coordinating clinical outputs, to ensure that Defence members receive healthcare in accordance with policy.
This is a dynamic role that will draw on strong skills in the Microsoft office suite, a range of software platforms used to manage workforce rosters, reporting, budget allocations, work health and safety (WHS), contractual requirements as well as health policy and governance. You will manage the team booking health care appointments, undertaking medical administration, and liaising with internal and external health care providers. Coordinating new staff orientation, liaising with contracted service delivery providers, and managing a workforce consisting of military, APS, and contractors will form key facets of the position. Leading the team of staff to deliver a warm welcome and promote a positive experience for the customers, while maintaining key relationships outside the facility.
With strong written and verbal communication skills, you will be able to manage changing priorities and a high workload at short notice with limited direction, and be able to work collaboratively within your team and with others.
About our Team
Joint Health Command (JHC) is responsible for the delivery of military medicine and joint healthcare services to over 70,000 Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel. JHC is also responsible for the health preparedness of ADF personnel for operations, and the coordination of health units for deployment in support of operations.
The APS 5 Practice Manager position is part of Joint Health Unit - Central Australia within JHC and is based at Tindal Health Centre Clinic, RAAF Base Tindal. The staff in the facility and across the region are a blended workforce of military, contract and APS personnel working together as one team.
As a key leadership position in the Health Centre the successful candidate will be working with a multidisciplinary health professional team providing GP services, Physiotherapy, Dental, Mental Health Care and Occupational Rehabilitation. The team also manage the coordination of specialist care for members.
