The Tasmanian Government has announced the formation of an expert clinical group that will be responsible for driving reform and positive change in the State’s health system.

 

State Minister for Health, Michelle O’Byrne, said that the Tasmanian Lead Clinicians Group will play a vital role in consulting with and engaging clinical from across the Tasmanian health sector to drive reform.

 

"We have an opportunity to shape our health system in powerful ways and this Group will be vital as we grasp that opportunity," Ms O’Byrne said.

 

"With national health reforms now well underway and the Tasmanian Health Organisations in place, this group will shortly begin developing an updated health plan.

 

"Expert clinical leadership is essential to help us shape Tasmania's Health Plan 2013 to ensure we deliver care that meets the community's needs for services of the highest quality and value."

 

Ms O'Byrne announced the eminent members of the peak group, chaired by Dr Alasdair MacDonald, who have been appointed based on their skills and experience.

·        Mr Brian Kirkby, General and Vascular Surgeon

·        Professor Matthew Jose, Nephrologist and Professor of Medicine UTAS

·        Ms Paula Hyland, Speech Pathologist

·        Dr John Davis, General Practitioner

·        Ms Melinda Rose, Clinical Nurse Consultant

·        Ms Catherine Schofield, Mental Health Nurse

·        Dr Craig Quarmby, Plastics and Reconstructive Surgeon
