Purpose of Position
To provide for the coordination, delivery and evaluation of clinical nurse education at the ward/unit level. Such education may include orientation and/or transitioning for new nursing staff, undergraduate and casual nurses as well as meeting the ongoing educational needs of existing nursing/midwifery staff. The CNE will work in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager and wider hospital team to develop and implement clinical education programs relevant to the specialties and basic nursing/midwifery competencies.

  • Registered Nurse with a current licence to practice from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Holds a relevant clinical or education post registration qualification and/or extensive relevant clinical experience in the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit.
  • Holds or working towards a Certificate IV Workplace Training and Assessment - TAE 40110.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles).
  • Demonstrated clinical teaching & facilitation skills.
  • Computer literacy and understanding of hospital information systems.
